Meet the Author
Valerie Wilcox
Welcome! I'm glad you stopped by. Here's a quick snapshot of my writing journey. I was born and raised in the Pacific NW and now live in Vancouver,
Washington. For most of my adult life, though, I have lived in the Seattle area, where my stories take place. I have a master's degree in education and a minor in library science from the University of Oregon. I was a teacher in Oregon and California before becoming a management trainer for the federal government and private industry. Although I've been writing since I could string a few words together, it wasn't until 1998 that my first novel was published.
I come from a family of storytellers. My father told tales about his life that were spellbinding, always humorous, and often creatively embellished. I
credit him for giving me the "imagination gene" and inspiring my interest in creating a compelling story. He never recorded his stories in print, but I
chose to do so from a young age and haven't quit yet! For a long time, I wrote just for my own enjoyment. But one day--on a whim--I sent an essay to the Portland Oregonian newspaper. I was surprised when it was accepted for publication, and I received a check in the mail for $25. The hook was set.
Now, each story I create is a collaboration with you, the reader, who brings the story to life with imagination and curiosity. My goal is to craft
experiences that captivate, intrigue, and stay with you long after the final page. I invite you to explore my books, discover new favorites, and join me
in this storytelling journey. Your thoughts, questions, and insights are always welcome and will make this shared adventure even more meaningful.
